I never missed an episode of The Fall Guy. That's why when I watched the recent remake, I laughed, even while I was saying, "This is wrong, he's a bounty hunter."

How was that? I generally like pretty much everything I've seen Ryan Gosling do.

It was good for a popcorn comedy, but for a fan of old show, it didn't ring true.

Gosling made a passable Colt. The fault was in the writing, not the acting.

That seems to be the pattern. "Let's take this thing that people might be nostalgic for, and update it!" Can't have it both ways.

Let's take an old show and walk through it.

Dukes of Hazzard.

New Actors/Actresses. Okay, make them original characters, give them a good back ground. Dukes did it twice. Once with Bo/Luke and 19 episodes with Coy/Vance. You can write new episodes, just don't try to switch/bait us.

The A-Team did it semi-successfully with the Movie in 2010.

I'm just nostalgic for shows that don't try to push messages. But there are very few of those anymore.

"Permanently entrenched police corruption" is not a message?

I think we tend not to notice the messages we agree with.

I had completely forgotten about Coy & Vance, and at the age of whatever would never have considered it was all about the merchandise.
